The Lathums meet Joker on the seafront for ‘Foolish Parley’ music video

Inspired by traditional customs out at sea, in which warring factions would set down arms to negotiate, Foolish Parley’s lyrics open a door once more into the old soul of bookish front man and lyricist, Alex Moore.  Of the track, he says: “Being honest, this just came to me out of nowhere, I can’t pinpoint from exactly where or why. Indie four-piece The Lathums have just released an absorbingly surreal, widescreen music video for their EP-track, ‘Foolish Parley’. Revealed as the first ICM Ones To Watch 2020 artist in the 31-day series, The Lathums are already on their way to making this year their best yet. Cut to a distinctly… Read More

Twin Atlantic reveal beautiful cinematic video for album track ‘Asynchronous’

“The music is so melancholic and timeless, it made me think abstractly about how all relationships can be viewed as cyclical. Meaning two or more objects of events not existing or happening at the same time, the video captures a couple enjoying the simple moments in life with great emphasis on their emotions until time turns back. Speaking of the video lead singer Sam McTrusty said: “We’ve always had inspiration from still and moving images to influence our work.  “We’ve dreamt of maybe one day getting to work on soundtracks and to have our dear friend Nick suggest doing that retrospectively for us felt like a great idea.” He continued:… Read More

Foo Fighters share second track ‘No Son of Mine’ from forthcoming 10th album

Foo Fighters are steamrolling their way into 2021 with the ear-ringing new single ‘No Son of Mine.’   It’s second track to be revealed from the band’s forthcoming 10th album Medicine at Midnight (out February 5th), which ignites the second half of the album with a lightning strike of a riff that builds into the album’s most full-on barnstormer. “This is the kind of song that just resides in all of us and if it makes sense at the time, we let it out,” Grohl explains, adding, “Lyrically it’s meant to poke at the hypocrisy of self righteous leaders, people that are guilty of committing the crimes they’re supposedly against…” Medicine… Read More

The Lutras release festive single ‘Give It Up For Christmas’ for Shelter and Music Venue Trust

Despite none of that happening, The Lutras could be on fire for a Christmas Number 1? It started off with so much purpose; big plans centred around tours, festivals and studio time. “Like the rest of the world, 2020 hasn’t been kind to us. Hopefully lots of other people can take joy from the record too.  “But it’s not just about Christmas – people are losing their jobs, people are homeless, honest businesses are closing for good – this song is about supporting those that need it the most.” The Lutras were crowned victorious at Firestone’s Road to the Main Stage competition last year and were expected to get time… Read More

Remain, Don’t Retrain: Lottery Winners write love letter to Covid-hit creatives

Alex Pearson You are valuable. It helped me, so I thought if I shared it, it might help somebody else. “Don’t let the b**tards grind you down. They’d do anything to be able to do what you can do,” says Rylance. In a pure of heart love letter and rallying cry to musicians, artists, writers and creatives of all creeds, Lottery Winners have released new single ‘REMAIN, DON’T RETRAIN’.  A call never give up in the face of spirit-crushing Covid pressures, the single, released November 25th, is an impassioned, spur-of-the-moment, hymn offering support, honesty and encouragement.  Initially written as a ‘note to self’ in a low moment, the alt pop… Read More

Abbie Ozard shares 90s-tinged music video for ‘True Romance’

Alex Pearson “I feel like I’m constantly having some form of identity crisis; I watched True Romance and thought ‘fuck, I just want to be Alabama in this film’ and live this mad life with a cool leopard print coat on and purple converse.  “I want to be this character, with a cool life, and ride around in a pink cadillac. The 90s film is also a key aesthetic touchstone of the video – filmed as a two person shoot with her best friend and photographer Charlotte Rudd. Hopefully one day I’ll be happy with everything that’s going on and the way I am, but for now I’m just gonna… Read More

Only Sun announce debut album with new indie bop ‘Extraordinary’

Alex Pearson Maybe we’re just awful humans clinging together like a tangled mess of duct tape in a world of perfect beings. Speaking about the track, the band comented: “Everyone’s got that friend that has seen you at your worst. For there is no happiness without a lack thereof, no confidence without vulnerability, and no trust, without paranoia. “Individually, the songs represent a snapshot of real life and propose an honest account of the effects that this has on a confused, flawed mind. They’ve dragged you kicking and screaming into a taxi, home before things got criminal. Together, the songs merge to form the beautiful yet flawed bouquet of a… Read More

Save Our Venues Campaign reaches ‘RED ALERT’ with 30 venues at risk of permanent closure

Alex Pearson We don’t have the power on our own to save these venues. On top of that, 20% of profits will still be donated to the trust and help protect these vital places for live music – that’s 50%! And despite 89% of grassroots music venues who applied for a grant by the Arts Council England – where £41million was distributed – there are now 30 venues which received no help in dire need of saving.  On Facebook the Music Venue Trust said today: “We’ve checked all the available funding, financial support, furlough schemes, business support for these venues, and what is on offer is not enough to prevent… Read More

It’s incredible to see a band that was just starting out their career, releasing an EP and touring in small music venues across the UK. They grew up as best friends and it really does show on the screen.” Back To Stockport will be released on Amazon Prime Video on November 8th and will launch as a 24 hour premiere on YouTube on November 7th at 8pm GMT.
